How is Knot different from Dolibarr’s native Workflow module?

Native workflow covers simple in-ERP scenarios. Knot Core adds a visual editor (nodes and edges), connectors for Dolibarr, email (through Dolibarr’s SMTP) and logic, advanced triggers (Cron, webhook, object event), and an engine with run history, Simulate, and idempotency.

Does Knot replace n8n or Make?

Knot targets teams that want automation inside Dolibarr without sending ERP data to the cloud. Some JSON imports are possible, but Knot is not an n8n clone: no dependency or derived code.

Where is my data stored?

On your Dolibarr server. Knot Core does not require an editor cloud. Credentials are encrypted locally (AES-256-GCM) and never logged in plain text.

License and access

Is Knot Core free?

Yes. Knot Core is GPL-3.0 (free; ZIP download on knot.tools, listed on Dolistore since 6 October 2026, source on GitHub).

What is Knot Pro Pack?

A commercial extension (PolyForm Shield): premium SaaS connectors, including outgoing HTTP and AI. In private beta, access on request from knot.tools: no public price.

Is the online demo free?

Yes. /try/ provides temporary access on demo.knot.tools (24 h, no email collected on knot.tools). See the privacy policy.

Hosting and performance

Do I have to self-host Knot?

Yes for production: module under htdocs/custom/knot/ on Dolibarr V20+. The shared demo is for discovery only.

What performance should I expect?

It depends on your server and workflow complexity. See Performance and limits.

Where is developer documentation?

User docs live here (docs.knot.tools). Technical docs (architecture, API, connectors) stay in the Knot Core repo (core/docs/) for contributors and integrators.

How do I contact support?

Use the mail link on knot.tools (obfuscated on the site). Never include secrets in your message.
