Create a workflow
You can create a workflow three ways: empty canvas, bundled template, or JSON import of a .knot.json file.
🔁 From an empty canvas
- Open Knot in Dolibarr → Workflows → New.
- Pick a clear name (e.g.
invoice-follow-up-acme). - Drag a trigger from the palette (manual is fine to start).
- Add connector nodes and connect them with edges (
source→target). - Save. The workflow stays inactive until you configure a production trigger.
🔁 From a template
Templates in examples/*.knot.json show generic business cases (Acme Solar data, @example.com emails).
- Workflows → Import.
- Choose a versioned Knot
.knot.jsonfile. - Adapt fields (entity, IDs, credentials) to your instance.
- Run Simulate before activation.
🔁 From JSON import
Import accepts Knot’s versioned JSON format. On version mismatch, Knot may migrate or report incompatible fields.
| Source | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Export from another instance | Reproduce a validated scenario |
| Manual backup | Quick rollback after tests |
| Demo | Start from a complete graph |
Details: Import / export.
🔁 Minimal viable structure
flowchart LR T[Trigger] --> N1[Node 1] N1 --> N2[Node 2] N2 --> N3[Node 3]- One main trigger entry per branch (except Logic splits).
- Each edge links a named output to a compatible input.
- Document business goal and owner in the workflow description.
🔁 Multi-entity
Workflows and runs are stored per Dolibarr entity. Duplicate the workflow if the same scenario spans companies with different credentials.
