Email connector
The Email connector (action.email) sends messages through SMTP configured on your Dolibarr instance. Included in Knot Core (GPL) — no Pro Pack licence required. Ideal for payment reminders, team notifications, or customer follow-ups after an ERP action.
Free in Core — configure SMTP in Dolibarr, then add this connector to your canvas. For Gmail API or multi-channel alerts (Slack + email + webhook), see Knot Pro Pack.
🔌 SMTP prerequisites
Before using this connector:
- Configure SMTP in Dolibarr (host, port, encryption).
- Send a test email from Dolibarr (administration menu).
- Confirm the default sender is allowed by your mail provider.
Without valid SMTP, the run fails with a clear error in run history.
🔌 Node fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| To | Recipient(s), comma-separated; {{ }} allowed |
| Subject | Message subject |
| Body | HTML body; expressions supported |
Attachments are not supported by
action.emailtoday.
🔌 Templates and personalization
Build the body with expressions:
Hello {{ nodes.tier.output.name }},
Your invoice {{ nodes.invoice.output.ref }} is available.For recurring layouts, centralize a fragment in a Logic node or reuse a workflow template from examples/*.knot.json.
🔌 Live demo
On demo.example.com (public Knot demo), real sending is often disabled to prevent spam. You can still:
- configure the node;
- validate the graph in Simulate;
- read the “would have been sent” payload in the inspection panel.
On your own Dolibarr, sending uses your real SMTP configuration.
🔌 Best practices
- Do not email secrets (use short signed links if needed).
- Respect GDPR: lawful basis and opt-out for marketing use.
- Limit frequency: prefer a spaced Cron trigger over sending on every micro-event.
