Triggers and scheduling

A trigger is always the first node in the graph. It defines when Knot creates a new run.

💡 Trigger types

Manual

Start from the editor or Run now. Best for tests and one-off ops.

Cron

Scheduled job via cron expression. Mind the instance timezone.

Webhook

Dedicated HTTP endpoint per workflow. Use secret / HMAC in production.

Object event

Object event on create / update / delete for mapped Dolibarr objects.

💡 Cron scheduling

  • First mention can say scheduled task, then use cron consistently.
  • Dolibarr cron must be enabled (often via the Knot setup wizard).
  • Common patterns: 0 8 * * * (daily 08:00), 0 * * * * (hourly).

💡 Webhook vs object event

TypeWhen to use
WebhookExternal system pushes an event (CRM, shop, script)
object eventNative reaction to Dolibarr changes (invoice validated, third party created)
