Snapshots

A snapshot is a versioned JSON capture of the source instance: SQL schema, enabled modules, extrafields, and integration metadata. It is not a full database dump.

Knot Migration history — diagnostic sessions and snapshots

Typical contents

  • Table/column/index inventory
  • Custom modules and declared versions
  • Extrafields and FK links
  • Integrity probes (orphans, malformed JSON)

Reference snapshots

For the target version, Knot Migration downloads a signed snapshot from license.knot.tools. The Ed25519 signature is verified before any comparison.

Cache and TTL

Reference snapshots are cached under documents/knotmigration/. An expired snapshot triggers a degraded modes banner and blocks new analyses until refresh.

Lifecycle

  1. Local generation during the diagnostic
  2. Comparison with the target reference
  3. Archival for history and later dry-run runs
